Workshop goals (LSQCC)ΒΆ
Relevance
Quantum computing is rapidly progressing and increasingly considered alongside high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) for tackling complex scientific workloads. For the SC community, understanding practical ways to incorporate quantum computation within larger computational ecosystems is becoming essential for planning resources, developing software stacks, and identifying impactful application areas. This workshop is relevant to researchers and practitioners who seek concrete methods, shared experiences, and realistic assessments of near-term opportunities in hybrid quantum-HPC-AI workflows.
Goals
The workshop aims to:
Showcase recent advances in quantum computing that are directly applicable to scientific and engineering problems, with emphasis on methods that interface naturally with HPC and AI when beneficial.
Share practical experiences from facilities and research groups on software and system integration, workflow design, and operational considerations for running quantum workloads alongside classical resources.
Discuss performance and scaling behavior in hybrid settings, including evaluation practices and application-driven metrics suitable for early-stage deployments.
Identify near-term opportunities and open challenges for incorporating quantum computation into existing HPC/AI pipelines, highlighting paths that can accelerate scientific impact without assuming specific architectures or vendor-specific concepts.
Foster collaboration across disciplines by connecting algorithm developers, HPC practitioners, and quantum computing researchers to catalyze reproducible, transferable, and extensible hybrid workflows.
